Call for Papers for the 2018 Midwest Association of Language Testers (MwALT) Conference

This year marks the 20th MwALT conference and will be held September 21-22 at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in Madison, WI.

This year’s conference theme isReady, Steady, Grow! Measuring Language Development from pre-K through College and Beyond.

While we welcome abstracts on any language testing related topic, we would particularly appreciate abstracts that are situated in the pre-K–12 context and address assessment related issues of language development for children and youth who are culturally and linguistically diverse. Potential topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

• Assessment of academic language development of culturally and linguistically diverse students

• Assessment of academic language skills that are critical for success in the pre-K–12 context

• Assessment policies that states, districts, and schools may promote to support the development of academic language proficiency

• Relationships between academic language proficiency and academic achievement

• Growth trajectories for academic language development

• Pedagogic practices and classroom based assessments that support students’ academic language development

Please see the conference website (below) for details of types of presentations and guidelines for submitting abstracts. The submission deadline is April 13, 2018.
