ILTA is pleased to announce that after carefully reviewing the proposals for ILTA GRANT FUNDING FOR WORKSHOPS AND MEETINGS 2017 Round 2, the following two proposals have been awarded an ILTA grant:

Beverly Baker, Jee Wha Dakin, Gerriet Janssen, & Heike Neumann for the Working Group Meeting to establish a Latin American Language Assessment Association (US$2,000)

and

Claudia Harsch & Ivonne de la Caridad Collada Peña: Assessment Literacy for Higher Education – setting up a Cuban Network of Language Testers (US$1,000).

More information about each grant can be found below:
‘The Working Group Meeting to establish a Latin American Language Assessment Association’ will bring together language assessment scholars and practitioners from across Latin America at LTRC 2017 to create a new space for dialogue and to build networks to address common issues across this region. Holding the inaugural meeting at LTRC 2017 takes advantage of the many international experts that will be present at the event and provides the opportunity to learn from other regional associations including the Asian Association for Language Assessment (AALA), the Association for Language Testing and Assessment of Australia and New Zealand (ALTAANZ), and the Canadian Association for Language Assessment (CALA).

‘Assessment Literacy for Higher Education – setting up a Cuban Network of Language Testers’ builds on the ILTA funded workshop held at the Universidad de Oriente, in Santiago de Cuba. A five-day workshop will be held at the University of Informatics Sciences with stakeholders and staff from UCI and other universities from the central and western parts of Cuba. The participants are responsible for developing the national assessment strategy. The workshop will expand and strengthen the existing community of practice to initiate a professional assessment network across Cuba’s universities.
