ILTA BEST ARTICLE AWARD: CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

The International Language Testing Association's Best Article Award is given annually for the paper deemed most worthy in the field of language testing in a given year. Language testing articles published in any refereed or comparable publication may be nominated. ILTA members are now invited to nominate publications from the year 2008.

All articles published in 2008 that have as their focus the assessment or measurement of language may be considered in the current round.

Please send your nominations of articles from refereed journals (including but not limited to Language Testing, Language Assessment Quarterly, Assessing Writing, Language Learning, Applied Linguistics and TESOL Quarterly) and chapters in edited books/volumes for consideration by the Best Article Award Committee, chaired this year by John Read.

The deadline for submission of nominations is Friday December 11, 2009.

The Committee will use the following criteria as they judge each article:

1.  The contribution of the work to the field of language testing, or to the interface between language testing and other areas of enquiry (and in particular the originality of the contribution).
2.  The persuasiveness of the argument (whether based on the interpretation of empirical data, theoretical rationales, or both).
3.  The thoroughness of the literature review.
4.  The clarity of the presentation (written expression; the use of figures and tables, where appropriate).
5.  In the case of empirical studies, the quality of the procedures for data-gathering and analysis.

Please complete the form below for your nomination/s, and email it by December 11 to the Committee Chair, John Read: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
