We warmly invite you to come to New Zealand to participate in the Language Testing Research Colloquium (LTRC), which will be held in Auckland from 2 to 6 July 2018.

From a small meeting of language testers in a hotel room in Boston in 1979, LTRC has grown to be the major international conference for research on language testing and assessment and has been held in diverse locations around the world. This is just the second time the conference has been in the Southern Hemisphere and so we welcome both people from our Asia-Pacific region and those from further afield for whom this may represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit our wonderful little country. Auckland is the country’s largest “superdiverse” city, with a wealth of languages, cultures and natural beauty.

The conference will be held on the city campus of the University of Auckland, which is a world-ranked institution and the largest in the country. The venue is the Owen G. Glenn Building, the home of the University’s Business School, with its striking modern architecture and state-of-the-art facilities under one roof.

For LTRC this time, we have chosen the broad theme “Language assessment in times of movement, transition and change”. We have explained it further in the Call for Proposals but we want to emphasise that we welcome good-quality research on any topic in the field.

You may also be interested in these other conferences before and after LTRC at the same venue:

Sociolinguistics Symposium 22 (www.ss22.ac.nz), 27-30 June

Conference of the NZ Association of Language Teachers (www.nzalt2018.org.nz), 8-11 July

Naumai, haere mai ki Tamaki Makaurau!
Come, welcome to Auckland!
